Golf gift guide, holiday season 2021: Distance-measuring devices, putter grips among must-have items

Louren

It’s the holiday season, which means it’s time for the golfer in your life to start stocking up for 2022. Golf has been thriving over the past few years, especially as an outdoor activity, and we’ve put together a great collection of gear, accessories and products that should be a delight to anyone obsessed with the game.

Part 1 dropped a little over a week ago, but we didn’t have enough room to include everything. So, as a follow-up to that, here’s Part 2.

Travis Mathew Crystal Cove 2.0 ($125): Travis Mathew always makes high-quality gear, and this zip-up is perfect for both everyday wear or going to the course. It’s both light and warm and looks tremendous. I’m also a big fan of what they have done with their logo here. It complements their look well.

Super Stroke grip ($30): I was playing golf with a friend the other day, and he said, “You know what idea I wish we would have thought of? Super Stoke.” Same here. All of their grips are terrific, and you can’t really go wrong, depending on what kind of feel you like when you’re putting. I’m in the middle of the pack with the Pistol 1.0, which lands between the GT Tour and GT 2.0 in terms of size.

Super Stroke

ORCA 27 oz. Chaser — Hammered Pearl ($33): Whether you’re playing in warm or cold temperatures, chances are you need the opposite-temperature beverage to keep you going on the course. Not only does the ORCA Chaser look like a golf ball with its bumpy exterior, it’s double-walled interior ensures that your drink stays strong throughout 18 holes. The clear lid also makes it obvious when you’re getting low so you don’t have to keep opening it.

ORCA

Bushnell Golf Phantom 2 ($130): When it comes to ease of use, it’s difficult to beat the Bushnell Golf Phantom 2 GPS device. You can connect it magnetically to your golf cart or carry it around, and it gives GPS distances to the front and back of the green. A worthy alternative to pricier options in this particular golf category.

Bushnell

Puttery (Price varies): I recently visited Puttery with a friend, and while I don’t think it’s going to become an every Friday night thing for me, I had a good time. The food and drinks were excellent, and it’s a great hangout spot for either a date or a party with friends. The courses — think Topgolf but for indoor putt-putt — were fun although not incredible, but this is a place where the golf is mostly secondary to spending quality time with those around us.
